Newborns

Over the last weekends and just yesterday, 3 of my Canadian Full Red guppies gave birth to around 41 fries. At least now I have some replacement for the losses I had at home and also those I gave away...

Fish eating worm

After having this silver arowana for 4 weeks, it finally has the courage to swim openly in the pond and come to the surface for food....thanks to the 6 crazy tinfoil barbs that I bought on Monday. They swimming around the pond like crazy and that gave the aro courage to venture out.

Now I'm still waiting for my other big aro to come out of its hiding under the water hyacinth.

New arowana in my pond

Oct 13,2007 afternoon

Shubin, Aston and me 千里迢迢 travel to Choa Chu Kang Ave 4. For what, you ask?

It's to pick up a new arowana from a forum friend. He's got a new aro and thus want to clear his big tank to make way for the new fish. So he's giving away his 18" aro for FREE! So good right? I'm the first one to response to his post and so I got the fish! Yeah!

Now this big fat 18" fish is inside my pond hiding under the water hyacinth. Hopefully it'll survive these few days adapting to the new environment. Once it makes it through these few days and start swimming openly, I'll take some photos to post here.

Cross-breeding guppies

Yesterday I got hold of 2 Full Black Male Guppies. Unfortunately that shop does not sell female ones (cos the supplier refuses to sell him). So I can't breed the Full Blacks.

But an idea struck me. And that is to try cross-breed my Full Reds with the Blacks. See if I can produce some nice strains of Red-Black guppies. Or even get a stable strain of Full Black females so that I can breed the Blacks. Either way, it'll be fun.

Let's see how's the result a few months later. Will post pictures of their offspring if the breeding is successful.
